Pain 1,000,000 Grace 0
I have been going through a very depressing very hurtful PAIN cycle, while up last night waiting for it to ease I wrote something about it and I am sharing it here for posterity. ( I wish this on no one, ever)
I scream at the top of my lungs
SILENTLY
So the world can continue to ignore me--
UNDISTURBED
The pain reaches deep inside of me, drawing myself inward.
I question the value of my life
I know the answers are not in a bottle
Pills or alcohol
But for all my intelligence I can not find a
SOLUTION
SO
in requisite obscurity I dutifully endure
Pain wins!

ten on Tuesday
Ten ways to stay cool during the heat wave:
- Dress minimally, I don't own shorts but I own lounge clothes so that is what I wear, they keep me cooler.
- Don't turn off the AC, it uses a lot more energy trying to get a warm room cool then keeping a cool room cool. I don't think its been off since June 2nd when we got back from Alabama
- Tie my hair on top of my head. My hair is down past my butt at this point, it is hot, it is heavy it is flyaway. I want to cut it BUT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> so I keep it secured up on my head unless I am going out then I use a kerchief.
- Drink cold liquids, I still have a hot cup of rooibos every night but during the day it is water or unsweetened iced tea.
- Eat cooling foods, a lot of people include hot peppers in this (they make you sweat, sweat cools you) but I truly don't like them. I just can not embrace the spicier the better craze that is sweeping this nation and the food scene. It adds no enjoyment to food for me at all. We eat a lot of salads, and sandwiches with this weather.
- Keep the blinds down, I would love to let the sun in, but let the sun in let the heat in, I remember the days of awnings and wish places still used them regularly, then I could see outside once in while
- Avoid being outdoors for long periods of time. Since my son has my car I only leave if Tom is home but his van is not air conditioned so even that isn't always a great plan,
- Eat ice cream. I do have to admit our ice cream consumption is up a bit this year we like plain old Breyer's all natural vanilla with fruit
- Save big out door projects for autumn, no sense getting dehydrated when the project can wait.
- Remember to offer people coming and going water and cooling clothes if needed. A cool wash cloth on the neck goes a long way to making someone comfortable.
How do you stay cool?

In words
Watching...the days of summer go by way to fast, don't want to see snow except on Christmas Eve.
Reading... a few books by Lori Wilde, Hope Ramsey and Betty Hechtman
Knitting...too many things, I have 4 shawls on the needles, a pair of mitts, and charity baby hats
Listening to...the sounds of the air conditioner, I may love the summer but only if it air conditioned
Drinking...homemade iced tea and lots of water
Eating...garden produce. lots of fresh picked tomatoes, corn from a local stand, and lots of fruit .
Planning...to cut my hair soon for Locks of Love and then dying it some bright, off the wall color
Itching to...fly away on a vacation but that is not going to happen
Organizing...my knitting, there are always piles of it everywhere
Delighted by...seeing the pictures by son posted of the sussex county fair .
Celebrating...Jason Day winning the PGA his first ever major, Jordan Speith being #1 in the PGA, and Tom blocking two more shawls for me!
